The late Steve Jobs said it best: “Trust Your Instincts.”
Trusting your instincts is one of the most important things that you can allow yourself to do. It is not always the easiest thing to do, but is super important to your well-being.
When your get that feeling in your gut or that voice in your head that says a situation is just not right, what do you do? Do you trust yourself and walk away, or do you ignore what your intuition is telling you and just go with it knowing that you will be hurt in some way by the outcome?
Your inner voice, although it may not always have all of the facts, is relying on knowledge and experience that you have gleaned throughout your life experiences. That is why the feeling exists.
Follow that instinct. It may not always be easy or politically correct, but it is the right thing to do. It could be a simple as politely saying no to someone wanting to sell you something or not going to an event or party, or it could be as hard as walking away from a relationship or dead-end job. It is up to you to protect yourself, your family, and your well being. No one can do that for you.
Over the years, I’ve learned. I have stayed at jobs too long, kept toxic people in my life, watched bullies in the workplace, and gone to events or bought things out of obligation, when it all felt wrong. Yes, I have learned. And what I have learned is to always, yes ALWAYS, TRUST MY INSTINCTS. I can always handle the 1 time out of 100 that my instincts and intuition may prove to be wrong. I will never regret the other 99 times that those instincts are the absolutely, most positively correct thing to rely on and do.
Will you “Trust Your Instincts?”
